Numbers from real downloads made through NSFWDL: how often people download in 1080p on each site, how big a typical file is, how many downloads start on a phone, and which sites send video in pieces. Only totals are published; no link, title or visitor is ever shown.

Phones do most of the downloading

60% of downloads started on a phone and another 4% on a tablet. On an iPhone every browser needs one extra tap to save a file, which is why NSFWDL shows a Save the file button there; the phone download guide walks through it.

Where 1080p is most common

RedGifs (61%), XVideos (51%) and PornHub (31%) had the highest share of downloads in 1080p or above. On PornHub, the busiest site, the most chosen quality was 720p.

File sizes differ a lot by site

A typical finished file from Eporner was 270 MB; from RedGifs it was 7 MB. A file's size depends on the video's length and the quality picked. Across all sites the typical finished file was 123 MB, and 99% of finished files fit NSFWDL's free 500 MB limit.

Some sites send video in pieces

xHamster, XVideos and XNXX send almost every video as a stream of short pieces rather than one file. NSFWDL joins the pieces into a single MP4 before handing it over, which is why those downloads take a few seconds to start.

How these numbers are collected

Every download started on NSFWDL is counted once, with its site, the quality chosen, the format the site sent and, when it finished, its size. Each row covers the whole period shown above the table, and a site needs a minimum number of downloads to be listed.

Links that worked is the share of lookups on the site's own downloader page that found at least one downloadable video; a link tried twice counts twice, and the figure is left out (–) when there were too few lookups. In 1080p or higher counts downloads whose quality has a known height; Original means the site doesn't state one. Typical file is the median size of finished downloads. Sent as a stream is the share of downloads in a stream format (HLS or DASH), which arrives as many short pieces that NSFWDL joins into one MP4. Phone and tablet shares are out of all downloads.

What is not in these numbers

No video link, title, file name or visitor is published or used to rank anything. The figures are site-level totals, rebuilt once a month from NSFWDL's own operational records; the Privacy Policy explains how long those keep individual links.
